Tesla's battery warranty by model

  • Model 3 and Model Y RWD: 8 years or 100,000 miles.
  • Model 3 and Model Y Long Range and Performance: 8 years or 120,000 miles.
  • Model S, Model X and Cybertruck: 8 years or 150,000 miles.

All of them guarantee at least 70% of the original battery capacity during the warranty, and cover the drive unit too. The Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty covers most other parts for 4 years or 50,000 miles.

Buying a used Tesla?

Both warranties start on the date the car was first delivered to its original owner and transfer to every later owner automatically. Ask the seller for the delivery date — it's in the Tesla app under the vehicle details — and check it here before you agree a price.

Extending coverage

Tesla sells an Extended Service Agreement that picks up after the basic warranty, and has offered a separate battery extension for some Model 3 and Model Y cars. Prices and terms change, so check the Tesla app for what's offered on your VIN.
